We find out

Jenny had mentioned to me that she was feeling tired (nothing new there). Then, during the course of the day she had sent me e-mails mentioning other details. I looked at my calendar and did some quick math (fine, it took me a while) and figured that if the moon and stars were aligned and all the I’s were dotted and T’s were crossed…..it could be possible.

So, on the way home I told her I was going to buy her a test. Of course, at this stage, it was only to be as joke because…....well, it can’t be possible…....not in our minds anyways. We went to Loblaws and bought the cheapest, no-name test possible but Jenny did say to buy the two pack as it was a better value (love that woman!). We then used the self check-outs as we didn’t think we should submit a teenage cashier to fits of laughter from two 30 something’s.

At home after dinner was started, we opened the box and read the instructions. Sure, they may seem pretty straight forward but this was a joke….and jokes must be followed to direction. We did what the test said and left it in the bathroom. We closed the door and waited 3 minutes.

Just as we were about to go back in to the “results room”, I started saying things to Jenny like “what a special moment” and “this is such a beautiful thing to share between us”. She told me to shut up.

There are a few times in your life you just wish you had a camera handy. This would be one of them. As we entered the room and saw the result, two things crossed our mind. First, what do two straight lines in two separate windows mean? (As we had forgotten everything on the directions by now) and second “Why didn’t we spend the $2 more and get the test with the + or -?”

A quick check of the instructions confirmed it was “POSITIVE”. Jenny’s face then went through a series of expressions ranging from joy, shock, disbelief, joy (again) and then a lot of WTF!?!? After re-reading the instructions about 50 times, we then realized that yes, we are pregnant. We took the second test the next morning which had the same positive result.

Running on pretty much no sleep, we both can’t remember what happened at work that day. 
